if your only modifying the xref model and not replacing it then dim info including notes should remain associated but I feel your pain there just isnt a way for things to auto regenerate in a new coordiante location.. however if your sheets are by coords of the xref and scaled up to the world then delete clip bound will show you where you have to move to.. I aslo like to put a clip non print polygon in the the ref model so its easier to work out sheet locations and match line and these are hand for clipping... Getting off topic for reminiscing ok...stop reading now if your not interested ok ? I'm reminded of my first week in the drawing office many years ago having done my first big general arrangement AO drawing of a railway under frame and bogie on the drawing board / machine, yes I am old... took me 2 or 3 weeks .. 40 hours a week ... and inked in on film at least...you got to love the Yellow eraser from staedler .. I still have one and pens all sealed up for the archaeologists to find when were all gone.... Then the junior engineers recalculated so design rules and changed the design significantly .. I almost broke into tears .. but my Drafting manager told me "... son if you can't handle changes your in the wrong profession..." yes older people in charge always called juniors Son and we always called them Sir or Mr never first names... if they didnt call you son then it was Mr. so and so ... (hey all my bosses were my dads age ... come to think of it I'm what my dads age was then hmmm...) and that was before cad so even though it still bugs me a little ... its so much easier with cad ( BTW that term copy paste for you youngsters out there originated with paper as we did use copy ( trace) , cut with scissors , paste with glue, and the photo copier was a dream come true to tracers)..... ok back on topic... There is just no way to get around it in CAD the text and dims are not auto generated by the elements you made those by hand so as far as the new model is concerned they dont exist . In GIS we can create labels from element attributed tables linked to elements move the element , modify the element and the label association is still linked to the table so the visual representation of the label is re displayed in its new location.. edit the table and the labels re display their re- representation... because in GIS its all about the meta data its what drives and draw most things.. In cad its all about the vector and the text etc is just more dumb data even if it makes meta data the meta data doesnt drive the vector information...
