Thanks guys. Leonard, I think we will try the UPF file refresh if it happens again but I'm doubtful. My understanding is that a user pref setting (stored in the UPF) would affect all files. This issue has only manifested in one drawing so far. However, its definitely worth checking it out to see if a UPF refresh fixes it. Lorys, our tech. has come from a different company where he experienced this problem then adopted his own technique. I've now asked him to ensure he uses the Text with leader tool tool in future. I will say it again though, this is just another way to skin a cat. The result of which is a still just a text node and a leader however they are not associated with each other. Im not 100% convinced this is the root of the issue but again I may be wrong. I'm now wondering if he copied the note from another drawing or the text from another application. I know Microstation doesn't liked copied notes...especially from a word file.
The method I outlined doesnt produce text node, and will set up a standard for everyone if you include it in a dgnlib file, dimstyles are awsome.. yes copied leader notes form acad are especially bad and they tend to have word wrap style limits on multiline notes even if they are look like single line hence are are node like ... I find I have to rebuild the note with copy cut paste in a new text place note dialog.. I even made a F keyin for this as it was job I to fix several times a day with files from designers from assorted projects and providores for weeks ... when I was contract drafting a while ago...
