Thanks for supplying your DGN file via the secure upload area. I have been able to successfully open this design file using MicroStation V8i SS4 but it was displaying an error message relating to Large Level Name Dictionaries. Large Level Name dictionaries were encountered. 1 references with more than 2000 entries in the Level Name Dictionary were found. The largest Level Name Dictionary was 13702 entries, in file zShop Tickets - DT BackUp.dgn Performance may be significantly improved by compressing zShop Tickets - DT BackUp.dgn and all reference files. Use 'Compress Options' from the File Menu, with the 'Include References' option, or the 'COMPRESS DESIGN INCLUDEREFS' keyin. Generally, you would be using the Compress Options under the File menu to rectify this type of issue but I have tried to compress the file and it locks up MicroStation. I have even just tried to change to another model within the file and it locks up the software. I have also tried repairing using other tools available to me but cannot get it fixed. Typically we would always advise to perform regular backups of your files either via a configured network backup schedule or even just by using the key-in BACKUP. We would first suggest if you have scheduled network backups that you try to retrieve the design file via this method. If this is not able to be retrieved we could escalate this to be investigated internally. To potentially recover the file, please provide the following information: - Was this file opened from a network drive? - What was the environment (local machine OS, server OS, etc.)? You've alrerady provided to corrupt design file so if you could also try to provide the following: - A backup of the file in question. - The workstation's Exception history: - The machine's system and application event logs. To get the exception history: 1. Open a good file. 2. Key-in: $ % "$(ms_tmp)" 3. Gather entire "ExceptionHistory" folder. (Typically there will be 5 folders, but there could be more; please send all of them). To get the system and application logs: 1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer 2. Expand "Windows Logs" (in XP: "Event Viewer (Local)”) folder. 3. Right-click on "Application" and select "Save All Events As…" (in XP: "Save Log File As..."). 4. Give it a name and save. 5. Repeat steps #3 and #4 for "System".
