(I'm using V8i SS3) ok I have come up with a crude brute force work around Named graphic groups.. measure the total length of your elements ( easier if your kerbs were smart lines). Then create selection set and graphic group them ( via Control G, then edit the cell name ) and name the graphic group as the total length.. see example uploaded dgn .. Here is screen shot.. the excel is just so I could check the total instead of a calculator the rhs is just the proof of non grouped elements as you hover over the kerb set the fly out reads the "Cell name" which I named the "Total Length =22.0972m" FYI I embeded the excel table so it could be part of the drg but its not linked to the elements to get values.. just nice to do calculations... this is the dgn I made to check the graphic group... (Please visit the site to view this file) you also can use Named groups from the utilities menu but I think that takes longer and is more complex than it needs for the task at hand....
