Does anyone care to help me find the best solution to link object properties into Excel cells?
I've been considering that question and encountered a snag! 64-bit Office Bitness matters! MicroStation CONNECT is a 64-bit application. To make it work with other apps. requires that the other app. is also 64-bit. For example, suppose you want to use VBA in either Excel or MicroStation CONNECT to move data between the two apps., then you must have Office 64-bit installed. Otherwise, you would be attempting to persuade 32-bit Excel VBA and 64-bit MicroStation VBA to work together (which they won't). Most organisations have 32-bit Office installed. Are they aware that a 64-bit version exists? Who has used Microsoft Office 64-bit? Who thinks he can persuade his organisation's IT department to install Microsoft Office 64-bit? Microsoft Recommends Office 32-bit! When arguing in favour of (3), keep in mind Microsoft's own recommendation: The 32-bit version of Office is probably the right choice . Your IT department will also be discombobulated by this: The 64-bit version of Office has some limitations . Finally, before you ask, Microsoft explicitly prohibits both 32-bit and 64-bit installation of Office on the same computer. You can have Office 32-bit or Office 64-bit, but not both.
