I Don't have PowerDraft, but if you can add the new source location to the MS_RFDIR path it should be able to find the files again. i.e. MS_RFDIR > J:/New/Source/Location/ The MS_RFDIR works for both the Vector references and Raster references. You should do this at the Project level config. so everyone working on that project will have it set.

Flood can be tricky. Sometimes I've had to turn off locate in references I'm not using, even if they're not displayed. Also a good idea to check the pattern attributes by creating a small test. You can also check if it's flooding correctly by using a simpler command like measure area or create region. An alternate approach would be to create a new level in the model or even create a new 2d model and put the patterns there.

How long does it take to get that requested download link? I filled out the form, but this interweb thang, we're never quite sure where it all goes.

Forum Post: Spacemouse rotation issues

I have been using my Spacemouse Wireless for several years in Inventor, Creo, Spaceclaim, Ansys, and others with more or less expected results. Recently I have started to use Microstation and have run into several problems. I have searched online for solutions, tried older and newer drivers, changed every setting available but cannot solve any of these issues. The problems are as follows: 1) Yaws relative to object rather than the user, so if you flip the object upside-down down it will rotate in reverse relative to the user, or if you are looking at the bottom or top it will act like roll. 2) Roll does not work at all. 3) All directions need to be reversed with the checkmark in 3dConnexions Advanced Settings. 4) Center of rotation seems impossible to change. Selecting a rotation point with a mouse does not have any effect on the Spacemouse point of rotation. Sometimes the point of rotation is a long way off especially when zoomed in making the Spacemouse unusable. (I have seen some discussion about this issue with no real solution) I was wondering if others users have had these issues with their Spacemouse on Microstation v8i, and if there are solutions or reasonable workarounds. Thanks.

It's all under your control: you don't have to wait for LA Solutions to do anything! Unpack the ZIP file and run the installation setup. The ZIP package includes the .chm help document.

An alternate approach would be to create a new level in the model or even create a new 2d model and put the patterns there.
in SS3 V8i I have some tricks for flood patterning and or fills Trick 1 If original object you wanted to pattern is a regular or simple shape with just a few straight lines ( no arcs) just go to the pattern hatch tools and choose the pencil and snap trace around the object area to be patterned and it will flood the traced area and ignore the ref file shapes gaps... 2nd trick it can be quite time consuming to find all the possible leak sites to your shapes.. there are tools in clean up to find these but just for drafting presentation I dont bother.. so I go to the create region tool and set the tolerance high as your working in the paper or sheet space I would use 1 unit first now create level that wont print and flood create region with no fill as this is the boundary we will use for flood pattern hatch later... If it fails , try slightly larger gap tolerance but if it creates bad shape ie jumps and doesnt really trace.. time for trick 3 Trick 3 draw a series of vertical lines generously spaced at first that completely cross over and outside your shape that you want to flood now so you can see the success when you try to create region and higjlited preview will tell you it worked no gaps make sure you have set keep original in the region tool setting ( very bad if you dont you will lose work) continue across your shape till you find the bad portion Now draw more lines across the bad area this time sub dividing the bad area, and repeat the flood areas until you find the leaky region Now zoom in and around the isolated area and find the gap(s) trace a temporary fixing line to bridge gap(s) and continue the process once you have created all the areas as regions you can create a new level called boundary and use create region again but use the union option and set dont keep original ( you wont lose stuff you want to keep trust me) so now clicking on one shape and the adjacent shape and accept will join the two and make a single shape repeat the process until all the separate shapes have become 1 , delete the original long crossing lines ( if they were all on the same level as the bridging or gap lines you can delete them by their level selection.. Now that you have a true closed boundary you can use to hatch pattern with you can set it on or off and have the pattern associated so you can always modify it... If your original work was simple 2d line work the data cleanup tool utility find gaps is the true best approach to fix what causes the problem but for complex drawing it might find more problems than you want as it finds all the gaps not just the areas you to hatch ( you can isolate this with fence option.) .. But in a real world busy office with deliverable deadlines looming closer and closer you may not have time to find and fix all the gaps and the tricks for just drafting presentation is usually a very fast approach...to get the drawings looking right and out the door on time .... This may give you time to come back later when the pressure is off and really repair the gaps through the data clean up tools under utilities as dimensioning and area measurements wont be correct unless you really fix the gaps... The process sounds long and convoluted but it isn't once you start trying it but I had to outline every step and it makes it sound longer that it is...

Forum Post: RE: Batch Process in the background
Hello, I am using batch process on multiple files to set the levels states in multiple files. While that is happening I have another microstation window open Where I am doing other stuff. Every time the batch process finishes with a file and moves to the next the window comes over the window I am currently working in, interrupting my other microstation session. Is there a way to make the batch process work in the background and not come above my other window? Thanks!
go to your workspace preference Change the operation > untick >open two application windows Open a single session of microstation and run your batch process over the files you want changed and minimise the mstn window while this is running open windows explorer ( Windows key E is the short cut) find a dgn file you want to work on but it cannot be in the batch process or it must be one of the files in the batch process that has already been changed now open it and if it doesnt default to microstation tell it to use microstation, The two sessions will be independent of each other so you can keep working... I dont think it will use up two licenses as its running both sessions from the same pc so its still the same license ( somebody from Bentley will chime in on this if I'm wrong) but your time and productivity is more expensive than a few minutes of extra license usage... but I dont see this as any different than the option in settings to use two window applications..

John, I encounter the same problem in Upd5. Do you use a UNC path in MS_GUIDGNLIBLIST to point to the dgnlib? As far as I can see the problem is caused by using a UNC path. At least, once I change it to a path with a drive letter, I can customize the ribbon and tools. Regards, Andre

_USTN_WORKSPACEROOT = //Server/Root/Bentley/CONNECT/$(_USTN_WORKSPACENAME)/ Using a UNC path in a workspace folder specification makes some tools read-only (see this post ). Changing to a mapped network drive letter enables editing... # L:/ is a mapped Windows drive as //Server/Root/ _USTN_WORKSPACEROOT = L:/Bentley/CONNECT/$(_USTN_WORKSPACENAME)/ Bentley Systems: is that intentional? If so, please clarify why using UNC paths in configuration variables doesn't work as we might reasonably expect. If not, please change the configuration file processor so that we can use UNC paths.

Product: MicroStation Version: V8 2004, V8 XM, V8i Environment: Windows Area: Text Editor Subarea: Word Processor Background The Word Processor text editor in each version of MicroStation relies upon the version of Windows and Internet Explorer to operate. Specifically, the DHTML Editing Control supplied by Microsoft controls the abilities of the Word Processor. If you are using a newer version of Windows or Internet Explorer than what each version of MicroStation has been certified with then you could be having issues with the Word Processor. The following error message may be displayed when trying to edit text. Unable to load/create dialog item of type 'HTML'. id=41510001 from dialog "Text Editor - Word Processor" Recommendations Option 1 If you have upgraded to a newer version of Windows or Internet Explorer then we would suggest also upgrading to the latest version of MicroStation V8i or CONNECT Edition. This is currently MicroStation V8i (Select Series 4) , 08.11.09.829, or MicroStation CONNECT Edition (Upgrade 2). These versions have been certified for use with operating systems up to Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10 and Internet Explorer V11. MicroStation V8i SELECTseries 4 (English) ReadMe MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 2 (English) ReadMe SELECT customers can download the latest versions from the Software Fulfillment page within the Personal or Enterprise Portals. Bentley - Software Fulfillment Option 2 The latest versions of MicroStation V8i now scan for the Prerequisites during installation. There is a possibility that the DHTML software did not install properly during the main MicroStation installation. You could try re-installing the DhtmlEd.msi that is in the software extraction folder. Eg. C:\BentleyDownloads\MicroStation_08.11.09.829\ **Note: There is a possibility the DhtmlEd.msi file would not have downloaded during the installation of MicroStation V8i and therefore not be located in this folder.** Option 3 If an upgrade is not possible you may be able to fix the issue by downloading the DHTML Editing Control directly from Microsoft. DHTML Editing Control for Applications Redistributable Package (x86) Option 4 If you find these options do not resolve the problem we would suggest changing to the Dialog Box text editor. This can be performed within the Workspace Preferences under the Text category. Option 5 This issue may also be occurring due to the installation of a newer version of Internet Explorer with a version of Microstation older than Select Series 1.. If Windows 7 has been recently installed (with Internet Explorer 8 or higher), and you are using a version of Microstation earlier than Select Series 1, it is recommended that you uninstall IE8 (or higher), and install either IE 6 or IE 7. Bentley does not support IE8 with any Microstation version prior Microstation V8i (Selectseries 1) 08.11.07.171 as this is the only version certified with IE8. It is recommended to upgrade to a more recent version of Microstation, or downgrade to IE7 (only possible if not using Windows 7). If you have Internet Explorer 7 installed, it is then possible to set the text editor: WORKSPACE > PREFERENCE > TEXT EDITOR STYLE > WORD PROCESSOR. Forum Post: [CONNECT] Define Icon for Tool

When customizing MicroStation's user interface, it's useful to be able to appoint an icon in a tool palette. That leads to the Define Icon for Tool dialog... The above dialog has a curious behaviour: the mouse scroll button doesn't scroll the view of icons. Instead, it remains focussed on the Option Button labelled Look for icons in . If one uses the scroll bar on the right, then the icon view is scrolled as expected. But, using the mouse scroll button changes the selected icon source. Since most of those are empty, the consequence of using the mouse scroll button is to clear the icon view. That behaviour is counter-intuitive, confusing and irritating. Please fix it.

Hi John, I do not appear to be able to reproduce this with my install of CONNECT UPDATE 5 when editing personal.dgnlib, although in my case the dialog width is smaller only showing 5 icons across where as your image shows 6. I am not able to resize the dialog to incorporate 6 icon width to see if this would make any difference. This being a know issue which and existing enhancement is filed see https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/f/273/p/131284/401480#401480 May be its hardware graphics / mouse related problem assuming your also using UPDATE 5, perhaps try changing the resolution to see if this helps. (Please visit the site to view this video) Does the Mouse scroll work OK for you in other dialogs ? Have you changed you mouse Button Assignments ? Regards Carl
