`Chuck , this doesnt fix why its not working the way you want but its the way get to the same end result you are wanting a correction to the view ports and a way to make sure they are aligned to the real locations for clips, and because the sheet models are at 0,0 and mm paper size (1:1) and the ref file alignment is scaled and moved to suit the sheet not the sheet scaled and moved to fit the reference AKA the autocad typical way acaders do things ref attach the to the model and ref the model nested into the sheet.. So now you can not t use the sheet as a ref attachement to check against the alignments or use them to make a key plan. I created an alignment file then created 3 sheet files and deliberately put the clip boundary or Viewport shapes ( acad speak) incorrectly. Then went into each sheet , activated the ref file and traced the location of the Viewport clip shape repeated for all sheets, then returned to the alignment file which now has the traced viewports, we can see they are wrong and and can move/ correct them then return to each sheet and we can modify the viewport clip boundary to suit the correct position. Here is a video with sound how I fixed it... please visit the video , I made a bit of an effort to show us all how to do the steps and this acad way of working seems to be spreading amongst clients.... this is what the actual viewport match lines was before modification ie not correct, using the viewport clip shapes to trace their location through the activate This is what it looks like after correction via the steps shown thro video , using the viewport clip shapes to trace their location through the activate and then modifying in the ref alignment file and revist the sheets to make the corrections.
