Comment on Solve flickering issue on LumenRT

Actually I found a bug that was causing the motion blur to kick in by a massive amount and this would create a single very blurry frame and certainly appear as a flicker in a saved movie during playback. This issue was not seen in every saved movie and could happen more than once in a saved movie or not at all. I finally was able to make a test case that clearing showed this issue and the E-on developers found this to be caused by a jump in focal distance. This issue has been fixed in LumenRT Update 2 which has been posted. Cheers, Jerry

Enhance Pattern etc.

What would be nice would be to have the border of a pattern have the ability to be "construction". Patterns I am working with now have the border the same color as the the patterns. But the reviewers don't want the borders showing because the borders are on to top of dashed lines and the solid lines print over the dashed lines. So in order to keep all of the pieces of the dropped patterns together I have to group them and then they have no association with patterns any more.

Hi Michael, More than likely the problem is caused by the AVI settings and the CODEC being used is not installed on your machine. You might try WMV instead but the output of WMV and AVI for that matter are not going to produce anywhere near the quality you can get from MP4. Saving to AVI from Fly Through Producer is probably a bad idea, you really should save to sequential frames using BMP or TIFF then you can load those into MicroStation's movie player and save to a movie format from there. Unless you already have a copy of Adobe Premiere then you might want to try Lightworks Non Linear Editor they have a free version that lets you save H264 MP4 movies at 1280x720 resolution. You can load the rendered sequential frames into Lightworks. If you were using the Animator instead of Fly Through Producer (recommended) and you specify that you want your output to be an AVI we actually save to sequential frames and then make the AVI after the frames are rendered. Cheers, Jerry

Sean, You are right about having duplicates of line work, or any element being bad practice. There is another way.... Attach the model to itself as a reference. Give it a logical name something like HALO. Then in a pen table or design script print the elements in the HALO reference with a thicker line weight and a different color. Also make sure the priority of the reference is lower than the priority of the master file.

Would you please give us more details: 1. What version of MicroStation? 2. If Line Styles are turned off in the Display tab, are all lines printing solid and you get no shape filled in black in Print Organizer? 3. Is this behavior file specific? 4. Does it matter what printer driver configuration file you use? 5. Has file printed correctly before from Print Organizer? 6. If using a Print Style in Print Organizer are you using same Print Style in the print dialog? 7. Would it be possible to get a copy of the file or files?

Good day All, I have been having some troubles when (for example) I begin a 3 point arc, tentative click for the second/end point, then go to place the third and final point of that arc Microstation will have placed the arc already before I have made my third click to accept the 3 point arc. Of course, that arc did not get my third point correctly and I now have an arc that I have to replace. I have never had this problem before and I am thinking it may just be some setting with Connect. Consider that I have done some testing with this and the problem seems to only occur when I am tentative clicking then left click accepting very close in time to each other.

Thank you ed, now it seems to print Ok when I unchecked "open design files in read-only mode" box in the PO preferences

Thanks for the update. The workflow you are using must require that the design files be opened in read/write mode. You should see the same behavior in MicroStation if you were to check "Open as read-only" in MicroStation file manager window.

Ray, -wr will define the workspace root path. This argument by itself as far as I can tell does not "process" any files. See what is on help: "Specifies the path to the workspace's root (_USTN_WORKSPACEROOT). Example: -wrC:\Bentley\Workspace" Is ther some other argument used?

Have you look at your preferences (Settings -> User -> Preferences) as far as Input options. The Hold delay could be too small. Also, Look and Feel - The single click option and also on Input, the Click sensitivity.

most likely you will want to use the following switch instead -WC Specifies the configuration file MicroStation will use on startup (for example, -wcC:\Bentley\Workspace\Config\myconfig.cfg).
